Sugar is not that bad, is it???

The question that I have been asked the most since I have started this journey is "Why is sugar so bad?" The following is one of the best articles I have read about the effects of sugar on the body and why it might be beneficial to reduce or eliminate sugar from your food choices.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sugar has become a staple in our modern diet, but why is sugar bad for your health? Many foods we eat on a regular basis are loaded with sugar. Sometimes you can’t even taste the sugar but it’s still in there. As delicious as sugar-laden foods may taste, the truth is sugar is just bad for your health, especially when you start to overindulge in it.
Sugar is a sticky substance and if left in the bloodstream (instead of being burned as energy) the particles will start to stick to the cells. The result is that if you are consuming a lot of sugar each day, you will get more wrinkles, will experience a lack of mobility in the joints, dry brittle nails and hair and a range of other health problems.
Reduce the amount of sugar you eat and you will soon notice a positive change in the way your skin looks. The reason for this is that refined carbohydrates such as white bread and other white flour products, are high in sugar and will cause an inflammation of the skin. This in turn creates high levels of free radicals which attack the collagen that keeps the skin stay firm. Without enough of this collagen, you will start to notice wrinkles.
Not only are free radicals bad news for your skin they are also deadly for the body, which is another reason why sugar is bad for your health. Free radicals can cause a lot of damage in healthy cells and lead to many illnesses of the body.
Sugary foods can also compromise your immune system. Research has shown that white blood cells are less efficient at fighting illness when exposed to sugar. A diet high in sugar will also raise your insulin levels quickly which can lead to many other health problems. You’ll also lack energy as a result of these sugar spikes and the drop in blood sugar that follows.
It’s no secret that obesity and weight-related illnesses are on the rise in many countries and this is directly attributed to our diets and lifestyle. Our bodies simply aren’t able to cope with such high sugar levels and this is why illnesses like diabetes are at an all time high. Cutting the excess sugar out of your diet is one of the best things you can do for your body.
It’s not easy especially the first few weeks when you will still experience some sort of craving for sugar, but you can try to substitute with fresh fruit which has a natural form of sugar and eventually your cravings will pass and you’ll start to feel and look great.
What does your inner-critic sound like?
I have been thinking a lot about the power of negative self-talk and positive self-talk a lot lately, especially on my journey to launch my website; and have really been consciously "listening" to those opposing "voices" that either encourage me or deflate me. It amazes me how different they actually sound when I tune in and listen.
It also dawned on me that my "inner-critic" has an agenda. He doesn't want to work. He is lazy and unmotivated and really doesn't want things to change very much. He likes it when I stuff my face with junk food and feel sorry for myself instead of being strong and motivated. "I can't do it" is music to his ears! He LIKES being in charge and doesn't want me to succeed and ultimately vito his suggestions. His sabbotage is designed to deflate my spirit and create a world for me of chronic apathy and self-pity. He is a massochist and enjoys emotional baggage and pain. In truth, I can't blame him for trying...that is the way things used to be, and no one likes change, even sub-conscious cynics.
On the other hand, there is my "inner-cheerleader" who has just recently decided that in order for me to succeed, she needs to speak up more, with enthusiasm and purpose. Her rah rah sis boom bah's have been a welcome change for me and have been driving me forward towards success. I like her! She really knows how to light a fire under me! In the past, she has quietly raised her pom pom's, with a "you can do it" smile on her face, but for some reason, I have doubted her abilties to really cheer me on. What if she was wrong about me? I just found it hard to really believe her motives. It was easier to believe the bad stuff I guess. But, she has patiently waited for her moment to take the field and call out her carefully crafted songs of encouragement and  yelling above the cheers in the crowd "I believe in you!" And the really cool part is...her little diddy's are infectious and I find myself singing along! The more I listen to her, the more enthusiastic she gets! It is a good partnership, between she and I. We seem to be propelling each other forward and giving each other exactly what we need to succeed.
Of course, on occassion, that negative self talk slips in; usually during a moment when things aren't quite going as planned, and plant those seeds of self-doubt, hoping they will blossom into the vines that will choke out my spirit and ambition. There was a day when I would have carefully cultivated those seeds and nourished them with all my heart, believing I didn't have any choice.
Now I know better. I do have choices. I know that no matter what challenges are placed in my path, I know I have the solutions to overcome them.
So I simply shake my head and let those little seeds blow away in the wind.
Actions for Positive Health
The following goals are essential for living healthily and  healing.
 Love and respect your whole self
When you look in the mirror, what do you see? Do you see a wonderful human being, a person you love and accept exactly the way you are? Look into your own eyes, how do you feel about yourself. Learning to Love the self is vital to good health.
Forgive everyone
Forgiveness is a truly powerful healing tool, it does not condone what happened, it just releases you from continuing to be a victim. Anger and  resentment held over a long period WILL cause serious illness, it is vital to release it and let it go.
Be Positive
It is medically proven that a positive outlook improves health outcomes. So be careful what you think and what you say. Never criticise yourself or others, acknowledge your negative thoughts and then release them, for they are no longer part of your life. Replace those thoughts with positive self-nurturing ones.
Start a programme of self care
Its time to get serious about caring for yourself at all levels, start doing the things you love, look after yourself, have some fun. Never accept criticism or negativity from anyone ( including yourself). Set time aside everyday, just for you, use to get back in touch with your inner self.
Make healthy, informed, self-nurturing choices
Start thinking consciously, be aware of your thoughts and words. If you are stuck, it usually because there is something you need to know. Make it your goal to always actively seek and understand the knowledge you need. This will enable you to make the correct choices for you.
Talk to your Doctor
Do not abandon your medical support just because you find an alternative approach. If there is no urgency then give your self healing a chance to work, but if you need urgent treatment, take it. Talk to your doctor about what you are doing.
Exercise regularly
To be healthy you must exercise, it really is as simple as that. Failure to or an inability to exercise will inevitably bring on health problems. I strongly recommend trying to adjust your lifestyle to naturally incorporate exercise as part of your normal life.  The more you exercise and the more powerfully you exercise, the better you will feel and you will also experience a thrilling boost to your natural energy levels. Remember to only exercise within your abilities, work up to it slowly. If you have any kind of medical condition, seek medical advise and support before undertaking exercise.
Choose a good diet for you
Review your diet, is it really healthy? You are what you eat, good food is essential to healthy living, so no junk food!
