Wow, if this woman does not inspire us to eat a more natural diet, I don't know what will! I am not promoting being a vegetarian or a vegan if that is not your "cuppa" tea...but I am a huge advocate for eating as naturally as possible at least 80% of the time. Go Mimi!!!
I choose to eat meat for protien but I have reduced the amount of animal protien I used to eat and started to incorporate alternative protiens such as different types of beans, hemp, etc.; as well as increase the amount of "live" food that I eat (essentially raw fruits and vegetables). I can honestly say that since I made these changes, and stopped eating processed food I also feel younger and more vital. And, a nice bonus to that is a healthier, leaner body. Yay!
I recognize that it is very challenging to change our eating habits...but it doesn't have to be a sudden, drastic change. Start incorporating small changes in your eating. Perhaps you could start by eating just a few more veggies, or making one meal each day "processed free", or serve one Vegetarian or meat-free meal each week, and then go from there! We are blessed to have the internet at our fingertips by which to look up recipes for healthy meals; or to educate ourselves about ingredients and make an informed decision about whether or not we want to put it in our body.
So, just for fun...pick your favorite processed, high fat, high sodium, high sugar treat...doesn't matter what it is...Doritos, potato chips, cookies, Joe Louis...and sit down by your computer and look up every unknown ingredient and educate yourself about what those ingredients are. If it is something you wouldn't keep in your pantry, why would you want to eat it?
But hey, if you don't want to look up ingredients on the internet, no problem! Here is a good rule of thumb and it is easy to do...
If you can't pronounce it...it probably isn't food. Avoid. Repeat.
Then imagine how hot you are going to look at 70!
Live Well,
Jen
